Hannibal, Missouri July 15, 2013

We enjoyed a short trip to Hannibal, Missouri on Monday afternoon July 15.  We visited the excellent Mark Twain museum and several other sites of interest relating to Mark Twain and his writings.  It renewed our interest in Mark Twain, and we’ve decided we need to re-read some of his classics like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.   We did buy his Diaries of Adam and Eve, which we’ve read and enjoyed in the past.
The highlight of the day was our dinner cruise on the Mark Twain Riverboat.  There were 15 Temple Missionary Couples.  We enjoyed a two hour cruise, a nice buffet dinner, entertainment, and good fellowship with our friends.  The sunset on the Mississippi was gorgeous.
We loved the quote by Mark Twain about being old.  We’ve either never heard it before, or it didn’t have as much meaning as it does now:
Mark Twain Quote:
“I am old.  I recognize it, but I don’t realize it.  I wonder if a person ever ceases to feel young – I mean for a whole day at a time.”
